Yr 10 Paper 1 q. 9 LEGO POSTERS

Paper 1 TV & PROMOTING MEDIA
  • exam technique when making notes
  • how much to write
  • notice the command (such as 'judge how far' & answer both bullet points)
  • 3 questions on extract - either Cuffs or The Avengers - watch both again
  • probably longer answer question on text not used for extract: notice requirement to draw in 'theoretical framework' = uses and gratifications audience theory, below

  • need for enterainment, diversion, escapism (TV is exciting, entertaining, thrilling, gripping, introduces us to a new world)

  • social relationships (we share the characters' values & see things from their point of view; Avengers provided a talking point as it was innovative, amusing and thrilling, with Peel providing both pin-up qualities and a role model as a new woman)
