FASHION MAGAZINES: DEVELOPING IDEAS

We are keeping in mind that the brief is for a fashion magazine so the magazine name and the focus of the main article should be about what the person wears. As you all want to have a sporting angle, make it seem that your interviewer asks 'lifestyle' questions, not just sporting (skateboarding /football) questions.

Brainstorming brand names, real and invented: (like SE7EN) SH4DOW; VITALITY, ELEMENT, PYRAMID, SEASON, AND/OR 

Gathering terminology related to sportswear fabric: tencel, bamboo fibre, Gore-tex....

Colours: smoke, fire, flame..

FASHION MAGAZINES

Year 10 has undertaken photoshoots for a fashion mag for active boys' wear, such as skateboard clothes with dynamic poses. These are now on your blogs. By Friday, add to the post:

• the name of the mag
• the outline of the interview (which will be about 300 words eventually)
• the title of the interview
• the standfirst of the interview
• one or more additional photos with different outfits

03 CREATING MEDIA: FASHION MAGAZINE

Today we researched how to tackle this brief: we made a folder entitled 03 CREATING MEDIA: MAGAZINE and started collecting inspirational magazine covers and double page spreads. Our focus is on boys active wear and music-inspired styles (like rap).
TeenVogue has some examples of masculine cover models. Look for sports magazines like Thrasher. Collecting examples of double-page layout is important as the pages are treated as one unit (not two pages).

The extract is from the television crime drama The Avengers (Episode 1, Series 4, ITV)
(The extract starts when Steed (the man in the bowler hat) enters the blacksmiths and ends after the
line ‘the schoolmaster’).

How far does the extract challenge traditional representations of gender in order to reach a 1960s television audience?
